Pre workout formules worden, zoals de naam al aangeeft, uitsluitend ingezet vlak voor een training of wedstrijd. Pre workout formules zorgen voor een betere spieruithouding en minder snelle verzuring waardoor je de training of wedstrijd op hogere intensiteit en/of langer vol kunt houden.
Er bestaan diverse variaties op pre workout formules. Vaak zijn de basis ingrediënten ongeveer hetzelfde, maar zit het verschil in een aantal ‘exotische’ bestanddelen (waarvan het positieve effect lang niet altijd wetenschappelijk is onderbouwd). Bij het kopen van een preworkout formule is het dus zaak te letten op de aanwezigheid van een aantal werkzame basis ingrediënten. Een pre workout die deze basis ingrediënten bezit is voldoende werkzaam. Voor de ‘exotische’ variaties betaal je al snel het dubbele.
De ingrediënten die absoluut niet mogen ontbreken in een goede pre workout formule:
- Beta alanine
- Citrulline malaat
- Creatine
- Arginine AKG
- Cafeïne
- Een (kleine) dosis polypeptiden en snel opneembare koolhydraten
Andere ‘extra’ ingrediënten zijn mooi meegenomen, maar niet noodzakelijk.
